CDM Annual Convention 2010....
November 12-14 2010 was another jam-packed, event filled
weekend, but did we have fun! And
to top it off we celebrated our 75th Anniversary! So much to
talk about so here goes...
The weekend began on Thursday with the Board of Directors
meeting, the rehearsals for Solo
Titles with choreography by Member Angie Henley
with a rousing jazz routine for the current
Title holders and finalists and the faculty flying in. On
Friday the Solo Title competition began with
interviews during the morning, then a quick change for the
class auditions. By the evenings end
the talent portion for the Petites and Juniors began. (More
on the winners listed on the "Solo Title"
link)
Saturday began the convention classes with a flurry of
activity and an all star faculty beginning
with Shely Pack-Manning, current
DMA1st Vice President, also Alex Anderson, the
current
DMA Mr. Dance of America. Other fantastic and talented
faculty were
Jeannette Thagard
Kiefer, Noelle Marsh,
an alumni of "SoYou Think You Can Dance", Brad Parquette,
Sterling
Masters (daughter of member Jami
Masters), members of the NC State Dance Team
and
Laura Flora, Nicole Little and Jackie Olson
teaching Zumba. .
Our banquet was again an amazing event and just gets
better every year. We all owe Betty
Newell and Tori Melby a rousing round of applause.
Every year they out do themselves and
we are constantly amazed. The CDM Junior
Members performed a hip hop routine
choreographed by member Alyson Badgett.
Our guest performers wereJordan Betscher, DMA
Junior Miss Dance of America and her sister, Danielle
Betscher,Teen Miss Dance of Ohio. And
CDM celebrated their 75th Anniversary. Here's to many more!!!
On Sunday, classes continued and the membership had
an opportunity to spend a little time
together with the "Membership Luncheon"
and the first of 2 annual Grand-body Meetings.
Thanks to the efforts of membership chairman,
Leslie Ingram, we have 13 new members who
took their exams.
We had a great time and hope that all of you did
too. We'd also like to say a big "Way To Go.."
to convention chairperson,
Merle Reese.
